Suhail is a private travel atelier, working quietly from Dubai. Each year we accept a small number of commissions — journeys conceived entirely around a single family, and never repeated.
We work where we are from: across the deserts, coasts and ancient cities of Arabia and the wider Middle East. It is a part of the world we know the way one can only know a home — its keepers of keys, its closed doors, and the hours when the great places belong to no one at all.

When the Bedouin crossed the Empty Quarter and the pearl divers worked the dark banks of the Gulf, they steered by Suhail — Canopus, the second-brightest star in the sky, and the one that marked the turning of the year.
To see Suhail rise was to know the great heat had broken, and that it was time, at last, to travel. We took its name because that is the work: to be the fixed point by which a family finds its way to the few places still worth the journey.

In forty years of travelling I had grown certain there was nowhere left that money could not reach. Suhail found three such places in a single week — and asked me to tell no one where.
