The Journey
Two thousand years ago the Nabataeans carved a second city from the desert here, sister to Petra, and then the sands kept it to themselves. For a millennium almost no outsider saw it. That door has only just opened, and we hold a key to the quietest rooms behind it.
You walk Hegra’s tomb-fields with the archaeologists excavating them, move through the oasis at the hour the date palms turn gold, and stand inside Maraya — the largest mirrored building on earth — for a recital arranged for your family. The desert here still feels like a secret being told for the first time.
